Anchoring ServiceSpace Community Table(s) at KK

Every month, we invite members of the ServiceSpace (SSp) community to join our community table at Karma Kitchen (KK). It's an informal setting for many-to-many connections to take place, and the gift-ecology context has proven to be conducive for many transformative conversations.

Thank you for anchoring a table at the upcoming KK. Here are few helpful tips ...

--Intent: SSp community table is different from KK's own community table. SSp community table requires a pre-RSVP (on a page like this) and is focused around our various SSp projects and its organizing values.

--Maitre-D coordination: SSp community table will be placed towards the back of the restaurant, so it can scale from one table to many. Maitre-D will be sent a list of RSVP's, so if someone comes and asks for SSp Community Table, the Maitre-D will hand off that person to the SSp-anchor-in-chief. :) If a person isn't on the list, they will be seated separately (and then if they have a past connection, they could go up to say hello).

--Distributed Tables each table will have its own anchor(s) and a small group of diners. When we have a lot of RSVP's (we had 70 once!), we will arrange for more anchors.

--Servers: given the distributed nature, we will have severs assigned as they are normally assigned.

--Anchoring: aim to provide space for each guest to share their personal journey, a bit more of a concrete project that is making them alive, and explore ways that ServiceSpace could be helpful to them. It's a bit like anchoring an Awakin Circle, where you make sure no one dominates, bring up interesting topics, and encourage deep listening. Beyond that, if possible, try to facilitate cross-connection on the table itself.

--Rotation: in case there are multiple SSp tables, and you are synched up with other anchors, it could be a good idea to rotate guests from one table to another. This is a dynamic process, and can be tricky while dining, so it does require some mindfulness and coordination.

--Checks: at KK community table, every person gets their own check. Unless otherwise noted, SSp community table operates in the same way. The anchor may choose to just get one check and ask everyone to contribute in the same envelope. In some cases, the anchor may just want to treat everyone (if that's the case, just pay for everyone and email the amount to Nipun/Sima and we'll reimburse it). Whatever the scenario, though, the anchor should make sure that each person on their table sees the check -- since that's an important part of KK experience.

--Post-Lunch: all the anchors should convene, either at KK or afterwards, so they can cross-pollinate ideas, emergence, and other synergies even across table. And it could help collectively create some best practices as well.
